Ah! I Workout

Last year, a friend mentioned the idea of doing a sprint triathlon together. I immediately brushed her off because I thought there was no way I would ever be able to do that. My friend started explaining it to me and everything it entailed. She also mentioned that triathletes come in all different shapes – not just the stick-thin runners that I was thinking. As she was talking, I thought it sounded like a challenge, but something that I could probably achieve. I was jumping in with both feet (pun intended).

I started my training program in the middle of May. I worked my rear off – literally. I lost about 65 pounds from the exercise and dieting (I was following Weight Watchers). I felt awesome, like I could do anything! I crossed my first finish line to officially become a triathlete on August 25, 2012. It was awesome! I completed two more triathlons during that season.

The off-season has hit me pretty hard. I’ve been a lazy pig and can’t quite get myself motivated to start training again. But, I’m trying. I’m following a training plan from TriNewbies in hopes of completing several triathlons, a duathlon, a few  runs, and a bike race this year. This corner of my blog is dedicated to that.
