When we lived in Louisville, we got into the not-so-good habit of hitting up a local dessert place to get our sweet fix. It’s not your typical ice cream parlor or anything like that. It’s called Pie Kitchen and the name doesn’t really do it justice. They have everything – pies, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, cheesecake, ice cream. If it’s sweet, they have it – it’s all made fresh and everything is delicious. We knew that we wanted to make a Pie Kitchen visit on our trip to Louisville. The kids had never been (at least that was our excuse to go).
Anna was immediately drawn to the cases of cakes, pies, and cookies. I asked her what she wanted. She just stood there, wide-eyed, saying ‘I want pink’. Eventually she settled on a pink cupcake. Pie Kitchens cupcakes are completely dunked in icing – you couldn’t get any more perfect for a girl who only eats the icing on a cupcake.
We each picked out a treat – an iced sugar cookie for Luke, Boston creme pie for Alex, chocolate cake for me, and pink for Anna. It was just as amazing as we remembered!
Multiple locations, the original location at 2525 Bardstown Road is pretty neat.
